Project Update: Stockton Navigation Center

G&G Builders has made significant progress at The Stockton Navigation Center. Despite complications due to weather and other factors, construction continues to move forward. In partnership with the city of Stockton, this project is the city’s first low-barrier shelter to feature a 24-hour navigation center.

Project Overview

The three-story structure is crafted from 42 shipping containers. Accessible through a central staircase and elevator, the sleeping quarters feature on-site bathrooms and a laundry facility for residents' convenience. The 24-hour navigation center will provide crucial medical and social services to those in need.

Advantages of Shipping Container Construction

The use of shipping containers at The Stockton Navigation Center provided numerous construction advantages. These containers offered sustainability, durability, flexibility, and time efficiency. By employing shipping containers, we were able to advance the project significantly faster than we would have with traditional methods. Notably, the reduced waste generation and minimal on-site disruption make shipping container construction particularly well-suited for projects in urban or densely populated areas, presenting an efficient and environmentally conscious alternative.

Our Industry Partners

This project wouldn’t be possible without our industry partners, including the RPM Team—a local design and consulting authority—and IMS Builders, specialists in modular container construction. Both companies have played an integral role in making this project a reality.

At G&G Builders, we are honored to work alongside our community to provide solutions to the homelessness crisis. We look forward to completing the project and continuing to work in partnership with our community.
