Building With Integrity And Compassion

G&G Builders is honored to partner alongside cities that proactively care for people experiencing homelessness. We recently worked with the City of Sacramento to build the X Street Navigation Center, located near Broadway and Alhambra Boulevard. Providing 100 beds, life skills classes, recovery assistance, medical care, and financial counseling, the center helps people transition from homelessness to permanent housing.

The “Why” Behind The Work

In 2019, 5,570 people experienced homelessness on any night, 70% of whom were unsheltered (2019 Point In Time Count). Designed by Sprung Structures, Navigation Centers become a bridge between life on the streets and an affordable housing unit. As Vice Mayor Jay Schenirer, explains, “The X Street Navigation Center is part of a larger City effort to meet the challenges of homelessness in Sacramento... We are partnering with our local community organizations to create a model shelter that meets the needs of unhoused adults as well as being a good neighbor to the community. Housing the homeless is a moral imperative that will demonstrate our compassion as a city” (Sacramento Express). We are proud to take part in the way we know best - building with integrity.

Turnkey Building Solutions

Our team built, installed, and prepared the entire project. The center is a welcoming refuge consisting of a dormitory, dining hall, spacious pantry for preparing meals, complete with bathrooms, laundry rooms, administrative office, and kennels for resident pets.

Both the dining hall and dormitory were built using Sprung Structures. With high ceilings and clear-span interiors, these areas offer a natural and bright living environment. Meanwhile, the energy-efficient insulation creates a comfortable interior.

Our team also partnered with Linked Equipment to build modular bathrooms, showers, and washrooms. Using innovative technology, Linked Equipment converts storage containers into all-in-one solutions for external facilities. Their watertight, weatherproof, and modular buildings create excellent mobile showers and restrooms with plumbing that are ready to connect to an external source and fit ADA Accessibility Regulations.

Designed With Purpose

Each element of the X Street Navigation Center came together to welcome individuals, offer valuable services, and foster community. The large Sprung Structures allow residents to participate in art classes, yoga, and other activities. With a computer station and library, people can charge their phones, work on computers, and choose new books to read. As a comprehensive, thoughtful, and innovative shelter, the X Street Navigation Center accepts people as they are - with their pets, partners, and possessions.

As a company that is proud to call northern California home, we are grateful to work alongside compassionate and socially responsible organizations. Learn more about Sacramento’s X Street Navigation Center in the articles below:
