Safety Is Job One

How To Ensure The Wellbeing Of Everyone On-Site

We value a high standard of quality, honesty, and ownership in everything we do, including how we take care of employees and individuals on-site. Keeping our crew and clients protected is our priority. Whether our team is working on a public park or a large Sprung Structure, ensuring their wellbeing is a must. Here are three strategies for maintaining a safe construction site:

Choose The Proper Equipment

Injuries can take place when equipment is misused or damaged. If a ladder is loaded with more than the recommended weight, serious accidents can occur. Additionally, faulty equipment can put employees at risk. While managing a project, it is essential that you provide each crew member with quality tools, purchase new equipment when necessary, and regularly perform safety inspections. We are adamant about providing our team with high-quality tools that are correctly suited for each task, and we make sure that our team works at a safe pace.

“I never want anyone to rush the job at the expense of using the proper equipment. Our company culture encourages employees to work thoroughly at a safe pace, taking the time they need to perform equipment inspections and acquire the proper tools.”

Create Safety Protocol Plans and Pay Attention to Your Experience Modification Rate

Creating a protocol plan is another necessary step to ensure the safety of your team. Each project is unique, so your crew must understand the potential risks before working on the job site. At G&G Builders, we hire an outside company to create a Health and Safety Protocol Plan for any project that requires extra protection measures.

Additionally, our insurance company uses California’s Experience Rating System to rate our company’s safety. “An experience modification, which is expressed as a percentage, compares the loss or claims history of one company to all other companies in the same industry that are similar in size.” The average EMR, or the point at which your company is said to be no more or less risky than another, is 100%. If your EMR dips below 100%, your company is considered safer than most in your industry. With an EMR of 76%, G&G Builders is considered significantly safer than most construction companies of a similar size. We are proud of this accomplishment and it only encourages us to continue emphasizing the wellbeing of our crew.

Promote Collaboration and Teamwork

Finally, it’s hard to overestimate the importance of teamwork. It takes a team of collaborative individuals to complete a project and ensure the protection of everyone on the job site. No matter their role, everyone should take care to keep fellow employees as secure as themselves. As a small company, our staff has worked together for years, establishing a solid basis of friendship and trust. The camaraderie we’ve built strengthens the work we do and ensures effective and safe collaboration.
